Topanga Canyon's Premier Address is the Post Office Tract. Why?
It is my understanding that back in the day, the 20's, when Topanga was a fledgling retreat for Angelenos to come up to the mountains to beat the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles life, that...the post office tract was where you had to live if you wanted mail delivered to your home. The homes in this area of Topanga Canyon were easily accessible because of the wider than normal streets. (By Topanga Canyon Standards, anyway.) Streets like Entrada, Colina, Encina, Muerdago and Waveview weren't that difficult to manuever for the mail man. Thus the Post Office Tract has stuck. One of the other reasons that the Post Office Tract is so desirable is the fact is nearly completely surrounded by the Topanga State Park...so those homes that are directly adjacent to Topanga State Park Property in fact feel as though they have an 11,000 acre back yard. So as I like to say...in the Monopoly Board Game scheme of things...The Post Office Tract of Topanga Canyon Real Estate is definately "Park"place.
