Topanga History
My family have been residents of Topanga Canyon since 1949. My husband Max Penner grew up in the house next door to where we now live on Observation Drive. His parents John and Evelyn were newlyweds when they bought their first home together. Back in the day real estate in Topanga was quite a bit less expensive than it is today. They paid $6000 for the little house on Observation Drive. Max's Mom recently sold the same house for over a million dollars! We miss having her next door but happy for the smart investment in real estate. Max grew up in an idyllic environment with his dog, and his two sister Heidi and Karen. They both rode horses competitvely doing barrell racing at a beautiful horse property now known as Mill Creek Equestrian Center. They all enjoyed the hippy lifestyle of Topanga Canyon in the 50s,60s and 70's.
